Design Director at OpenBox9
Ryan is a DC-area native who has a passion for creative problem solving, storytelling, and seeing people’s lives impacted in a real and positive way. He is the design director at openbox9 (openbox9.com), an agency located in the Brookland neighborhood of Washington, DC that focuses on non-profits and causes that are close to the team. He spends most of his days trying to stay out of the way of the talented openbox9 team. Recent clients he has had the privilege of working with include: The Folger Shakespeare Library and Theatre, The National Wildlife Federation, Stanford University, Design Army, Hilton, Bread for the City, and the Classic Stage Company.
Ryan studied economics and computer science in college because he didn't really know what he wanted to do. He worked as a business management consultant and software developer for the same reason, before joining the staff at Grace Community Church (Arlington, VA) as its in-house designer and creative director for ten years. In 2016 he joined the openbox9 team.
Ryan enjoys getting to know people, drinking too much coffee, music, and spending time with his patient wife and their hilarious daughter. He will watch anything that is related to The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, or comic books, and has watched the entire 7 seasons of "Parks and Recreation" at least 5 times.
